Department Participates in "Modes of Transportation"
On Saturday, June 20th, members of the department assisted the YMCA with their 1st annual "Modes of Transportation" event. Aside from the fire department, other contributors included an Army National Guard Blackhawk helicoptor, Wisconsin Dells Ducks, a semi-truck from Wal-mart, demonstration rides in Dodge Vipers, the Oscar Meyer Weinermobile, and a hot air balloon. The fire department provided a brief demonstration of the hovercraft.

One of the star attractions at the Modes of Transportation event was the Oscar Meyer Weinermoble. The firemen got to talking to the crew of the Weinermobile and found that they were in need of help. It seemed that the Weinermobile needed a wash, but it is too large to fit into standard carwash bays. Never ignoring a cry of distress, the firemen offered the opportunity to bring their vehicle to be washed in one of the apparatus bays. Now...we've heard a lot of jokes about this already, but if you think you have something original...

Fire Department Supports Children's Radiothon
On Thursday, June 18th, members of the department presented the rooftop radio personality with a donation from the firefighters to the WBEV/WXRO Children's Radiothon. This annual event raises funds for local organization that support children's education and activities. Normally, contibutions are put into a bucket lowered from the roof, but firemen always have to set the standard a little higher!

The ladies of Good Karma Broadcasting (WBEV/WXRO) also took a ride in the aerial bucket. From left: Stephanie Bishop, Kristen Fabisch, and Jill Cullen.
Firefighters Help Support Scouting
On Sunday, June 7th, Cubscouts from Pack #3738 in cooperation with Pizza Hut of Beaver Dam, held a carwash to support Camp Heartland. This camp helps support children of families affected by AIDS. Firemen contributed to the cause and the kids had a chance to wash a fire truck.

Cub Scouts Tour BDFD
On May 5th, 2009, Cubscouts from Pack #3738's Tiger Den at Jefferson School visited the firestation on a "Go See It" tour. As part of their tour, Boy Scouts of America require that emphasis be put on the importance of smoke detectors and calling 911. The kids all had a great time and even got to eat ice cream in the firestation kitchen. Thanks to all of the parents and leaders of Pack #3738 who visited!!

Lincoln Elementary Tours BDFD
On April 28th, 2009, students from Lincoln Elementary School toured the Fire Station. There was a contest to see which tour group could make the siren the loudest. All the kids had a great time. They also toured the Police Department, but all of the kids said they liked the Fire Station better :-) Big thanks to Lincoln Lightning students for visiting.
Cub Scouts Tour BDFD
On October 13th, 2008, Scouts of Pack 3724's Tiger Den of St. Katherine Drexel Church visited the Fire Station on a "Go See It" tour. The kids always enjoy visiting and learning about all of the ways the Fire Department helps people. Any groups are welcome to tour our facility. Call us at 920-887-4609 to set up a time.

Fire Department Visits Schools
Every October we celebrate Fire Prevention Month. This year's theme is to "Prevent Home Fires". You should always know two ways out of a building in case of an emergency. As part of Fire Prevention Month, our Ladder/Tower always visits the Kindergarten classes in the city. Here Firefighters Bau and Skelton visit the kids of Washington School. The truck will be visiting all of the elementary schools around the city.
