Community Involvement

Auxiliary Police Officers
Auxiliary Police augment the police department's ability to provide safety coverage at public events. They do not have powers of arrest, however they are used for civic functions such as dances, parades, and athletic events. The Auxiliary Officers are in contact with dispatch via radio and if a problem arises, they can summon help immediately. Each Auxiliary Officer is CPR certified and Automatic Defibrillator trained. This group meets the first Thursday of each month at the City Municipal Building.  The department has nine Auxiliary Police Officers.

The program meets one evening each week.  If accepted to attend the program, you will be expected to attend all classes scheduled and will only be excused from class with the approval from Officer William Linzenmeyer or Police Chief Dale Boldt.  During the program you will also be required to participate in an eight hour ride-a-long with a Beaver Dam Police Officer.

The Department's continuing goal is to assist citizens in the understanding of all the aspects of being a Police Officer. Some of the topics offered are:  School Liasion Officer procedures, drug investigation, professional communication, defense tactics, operating while intoxicated procedures, criminal investigation, accident investigation, firearms, fire/EMT training, traffic procedures, and tours of the Dodge County Circuit Court and Dodge County Jail.  All instructors for this program are members of the Beaver Dam Police Department.
