Recycling

Waste recycling exists in Beaver Dam in compliance with Federal and State laws. With new laws come changes, and in this case, personal changes in our "waste disposal habits." With patience, understanding and education we will make recycling work in the City of Beaver Dam.

Effective since January 1, 1995 the City of Beaver Dam has provided contracted curbside collection, processing, and marketing of recyclables from all single family through four-unit residential facilities. In addition to information presented by our residential recycling contractor, as printed in the Recycling "How To's" section of this website, your City government presents the following as pertaining to curbside collection, unless otherwise noted:

  • Lead Acids Batteries - Must be disposed of at retail outlets, any other points of purchase, or at other legal disposal location.

  • Major Appliances -  No appliances or other large metal materials are collected curbside. Also, any generator of a major non-refrigerant appliance or large metals can dispose of the unit at the City Garage, 640 South Center Street, during normal working hours.

  • Waste Engine Oil  - May be disposed of by any city resident at the City Garage, 640 South Center Street, during normal working hours.

  • Waste Tires - Must be disposed of at private retail outlets, at any other points of purchase, or at other legal disposal locations.

  • Yard Waste - Shall be processed as in the past.

  • Residents/Occupants of apartment buildings of more than 4 units and all other non-residential facilities are required to recycle pursuant to law by arranging privately for collection and disposal of recyclables and non-recyclables, except as noted above.
