Leaf and Garden Debris Curbside Collection Ending Date Announced

City of Beaver Dam residents that receive City sponsored solid waste collection services only, are advised that the last official day to place leaves, grass rakings, garden vines and stalks in terrace areas at the street edge for collection by Public Works Dept. personnel is Sunday, November 19th

This means that the curbside leaves and garden debris collection is currently ongoing and will continue each work day. The final collection round will begin the morning of Monday, November 20th.  Once the DPW crew has picked up your leaves and garden debris for this final round they have completed their pickup for you for the season and will not be by your place again.

After this last collection you may still bring leaves to the City Garage during regular business hours, but your curbside collection will be finished.

             Please note the following guidelines:

■    Yard waste is NOT allowed to be placed in the street or gutter.

■     If possible, do not pile yard waste around or near trees, street light poles, street sign posts, etc. Piling yard waste around these items slows down the collection process.

■     These materials must be placed curbside loose. Please do not place in any container.

■     Leaves, rakings and garden debris must not be mixed with any other forms of waste such as brush or shrubbery cuttings. Separate regulations pertain to brush and shrubbery collections and the curbside collection of brush has been completed for 2017.  The next curbside collection of brush & shrubby cuttings will not take place until  April of 2018.

■     Fruits, nuts and vegetables are not acceptable and should be disposed of as garbage.

■     Violations will be rejected and must be removed from the street side within 24 hours of the violation notice.

Please note that the collection of leaves does not go according to your garbage pickup day.

The Public Works Garage Yard Waste Drop-off Site, at 640 S. Center Street, is also available for disposal of these and other yard waste materials by City Residents. No waste of any kind will be accepted from outside of the city limits or from any contractors.

Questions should be directed to the Department of Public Works at 887-4635 or through the City’s web site at
