Yard Waste Collection Rules

  • Phone:
Yard waste is collected by City of Beaver Dam Public Works Crews. Please adhere to the following rules:
  • Uncontainerized & Neatly Piled
Leaves, flowers, rakings containing grass and leaves and garden vines placed in tree border only, are only collected at an announced time in Autumn, starting in October and ending at an announced time in November. Those materials must be disposed of by resident during the remainder of the year. Fruits and vegetables, including pumpkins, are considered garbage and will not be collected with yard waste.

  • Tree Branches

Branches are collected on your 1st garbage pickup day of the month, April through November, ONLY!

Tree Branches , not exceeding 7" in thickness and approximately 8' in length will be collected in a loose manner with all cut ends at same ends of pile facing street if tree border space allows, on your 1st solid waste collection day of the month only and must be curb side by 7:00 a.m. on the collection day, but not more than 24 hours prior to that collection day.

Tree branches, brush and shrubbery cuttings less than 12" in length are also subject to this rule with the exception that they may also be placed in a customer owned 32 gallon maximum waste container with two original handles and not exceeding 50 pounds in weight, providing they are not mixed with any other waste such as grass, leaves, garden vines, flowers, rakings or garbage including rubbish-type materials and do not stick out of the top of the container more than 12". If plastic bags are used, they must be of the transparent type so materials can be identified.

The intention of this service is to collect tree branches that residents themselves have trimmed from a tree or two in their yard.  DPW does not   provide a tree removal service and this service is not intended to provide a way for residents to dispose of branches from entire trees that have been cut down or for clearing trees and brush from an entire lot.  This includes contracted work performed and/or work performed by the property owner.  These rules also apply to branches brought to the yard waste drop-off site.

  • All of the above YARD WASTE can be disposed of by CITY RESIDENTS ONLY , year round at the Public Works Garage, 640 S Center Street, during normal business hours, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Monday - Friday, closed on holidays. The site is also open additional hours from an announced date in April and ending at an announced date in November, on Saturdays, 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
The site is for yard waste ONLY! No lumber, garbage, or fruits and vegetables, including pumpkins, will be accepted.

  • For Tree Contractors
The tree branch rule above does not apply to tree contractors, as they must dispose of all cuttings resulting from their work. Questions pertaining to this section should be directed to the Public Works Garage at 920-887-4635 or you can email your question to one of the Department contacts.
