The Department of Public Works (DPW) operates under the guidance of the operations committee. The DPW provides maintenance and construction service operations on City facilities including:

  • Street repair
  • Snow plowing
  • Street lighting
  • Traffic signals
  • Oversees city's waste and recycling programs
  • Stormwater management systems
  • Conducts some maintenance & repair to city's sanitary sewer and water systems

The Department of Public Works maintains all city-owned intersection traffic signals and ornamental street lights on metal poles. Street lights on wooden poles are maintained by Alliant Energy.
